TST Biometrics BiRD 3
BiRD 3 from TST Biometrics is an optical fingerprint reader with the touchless sensor technology that allows to scan a finger without physical contact with a fingerprint sensor. This non-contact scanning method together with an integrated finger guide allows to reach high image quality. There are no latent fingerprints, as a finger does not touch sensor's surface.
The BiRD 3 is able to perform live finger detection and reject spoof fingers or finger images.
The reader requires almost no maintenance, as the sensor does not suffer of dirt or mechanical wear due to non-contact scanning method.
The BiRD 3 sensor is available as desktop scanner, on-wall mounted scanner and as OEM components. It has a modular design that allows to connect the sensor with different communication hardware for using USB or Ethernet communication. Also a custom hardware board can be connected directly to the sensor.
Optionally, a 5V AC powered heating device could be included for operating in environments with low temperatures or high hunidity to prevent condensation on the sensor surface.
Note that the BiRD 3 fingerprint scanner is no longer manufactured.
Support modules for this device were included in the MegaMatcher 12.4 SDK, MegaMatcher On Card 12 SDK and VeriFinger 12.4 SDK.
Support modules for this device are not included in the newer versions of the mentioned SDKs, including the newest MegaMatcher 13.1 SDK, MegaMatcher On Card 13.1 SDK and VeriFinger 13.1 SDK.
